MAFIA: A Multicast Management Solution for Access Control and Traffic Filtering
نویسندگان
چکیده
Recently, multicast has seen only marginal wide-scale deployment. One of the main reasons is the lack of support for security and traac management. Although there has been some recent work, these eeorts have not emphasized the critical need to deploy security features side-by-side with management solutions. In this paper, we propose MAFIA, a multicast management solution with the speciic aim of strengthening multicast security through multicast access control, mul-ticast traac ltering, and DoS attack prevention. MAFIA achieves these tasks by making use of information about multicast group memberships available at diierent locations in a network. We have designed various deployment solutions for MAFIA. Among these various solutions, a variety of factors need to be considered. In particular, a solution should have the capability to handle high traac rates, be easy to deploy, and be exible in terms of functionality. We also implement one such solution using the GNU/Linux operating system.

A Survey on Multicast Routing Approaches in Wireless Mesh Networks
Wireless mesh networks (WMNs) which mediates the broadband Internet access, have been recently received many attentions by the researchers. In order to increase capacity in these networks, nodes are equipped with multiple radios tuned on multiple channels emerging multi radio multi-channel WMNs (MRMC WMNs). Therefore, a vital challenge that poses in MRMC WMNs is how to properly assign channels ...
متن کاملRAMS: A Protocol Extension to PMIPv6 for Improving Handover Performance of Multicast Traffic
IP multicast allows the efficient support of group communication services. The increase in the use of multicast has also triggered the need for supporting IP multicast in mobile environments. It is necessary to consider current unicast mobility management solutions in IP-based networks to smoothly extend multicast services to mobile users. Proxy Mobile IPv6 is a network-based mobility managemen...
متن کاملRow/Column-First: A Path-based Multicast Algorithm for 2D Mesh-based Network on Chips
In this paper, we propose a new path-based multicast algorithm that is called Row/Column-First algorithm. The proposed algorithm constructs a set of multicast paths to deliver a multicast message to all multicast destination nodes. The set of multicast paths are all of row-first or column-first subcategories to maximize the multicast performance. The selection of row-first or column-first appro...
متن کاملMulticast Listener Extensions for Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) and Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) Fast Handovers
Fast handover protocols for Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) and Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) define mobility management procedures that support unicast communication at reduced handover latency. Fast handover base operations do not affect multicast communication and, hence, do not accelerate handover management for native multicast listeners. Many multicast applications like IPTV or conferencing, though, com...
متن کاملGeneralizing RSVP's traffic and policy control interface
In this paper, we describe our current efforts to evaluate and extend the traffic control interface of RSVP and to define a useful policy control interface. The particular goal is to advance integration of non-broadcast multiple-access (NBMA) sub-nets, such as native ATM, and furthermore, to allow for meaningful inter-operation between traffic control and policy control. Our experience stems fr...
